Time to put on a jumper, time to put on the heating in evening and for Irish Design shop, time to fix the leaking roof and of course fill the shop with all manner of woolen goods from some of our favourite makers. We cant help but embrace the new season after receiving new stock from IDS staple Heather Finn and newcomers Lisa Shawgi and Cushendale. From the softest lambswool to the fluffiest mohair, we have you covered for throws, scarves and gloves. Ever since the Kilkenny design workshops were established in 1963, the county has been a centre for craft of all disciplines. Although the KDW no longer exist, its legacy lives on in the form of individual studios and co-operatives stretching from the city to smaller towns like Graiguenamanagh. In 2009, the Kilkenny craft trail was formed to promote the diverse range of crafts the county has to offer. Driving through the idyllic countryside, purple signposts indicate the whereabouts of various studios. As some of these locations are somewhat off the beaten track, a handy map can be picked up from any of the members.

By far one of the highlights in the city's calendar, Culture Night is once again upon us. 132 venues are involved this year in Dublin alone, the event itself takes place nationally in 22 towns and cities, but for us the highlight has to be the capital.
Flying the flag for Culture Night Dublin, Irish Design shop & studios will be open until 11pm. Early on in the evening we will be holding a jewellery making workshop. Nothing too demanding, we will be inviting the public to construct a badge or pin in perspex/copper. Our two other resident metalworkers Eoin M.Lyons and Cianan Doyle will be on hand to help us out, so we should be super organised! Pre-booking is essential for this event.…
