We are delighted to announce an exciting collaboration with the National Gallery of Ireland. Throughout the month of June, we will be occupying part of the Gallery shop to celebrate 2011 as the Year of Craft. Customers can expect the very best of Irish design from ceramics and textiles to jewellery and prints and everything in between! New work on display includes, embroidered linen tableware from Jennifer Slattery, prints by Yellowhammer, jewellery by Theresa Burger and much more.

Running alongside this event, the National Gallery Education department will be hosting a series of talks and lectures relating to craft. Highlights include: David Shaw Smith (creator of the classic RTE series ‘Hands’) speaking on Sunday June 12th, followed by a signing of his book ‘The traditional crafts of Ireland’ in the gallery shop, & Tadhg and Simon O’Driscoll (O’Driscoll furniture) speaking on the ‘The design, creation and conservation of modern furniture’. There will be eight lectures running over the month on Sundays and Tuesdays.

The Gallery shop will be stocking a wide range of books relating to design and Irish craft along with helpful publications on establishing a career in deign and handy  DIY craft books. Customers can still rely on the shop to carry its usual mix of exciting products.

We will be operating business as usual from our city centre location on Bow Lane east, Dublin 2.  We are currently revamping the website and online shop with the help of graphic design duo Conor & David which we hope to launch late this summer. We will keep everyone updated on the progress through our facebook and our new Twitter page: http://www.twitter.com/Irish_Design
