Childhood friends Aileen Balfe and Eleanor McCaughey, have always been working on creative projects of some sort together. In 2013 they launched their collaborative label Ail+El, the aim was to create art pieces for the home. Greatly influenced by their previous public art collaborations, they take inspiration from architecture, graffiti and street art to create functional and contemporary pieces of homeware. Aileen has a background in Furniture and Textile Design, whereas Eleanor trained in Graphic Design and Fine Art. Together they create a range of concrete planters and tealight holders, printed textiles and prints.
