This large serving dish decorated in Mark's teasel pattern is inspired by the plant that grows abundantly around his home and studio in Kilkenny, and is perfect for serving a salad, as a fruit bowl or simply as an ornamental piece.
Working in the traditional majolica technique, Mark's pieces are first formed in earthenware clay and covered with a white tin glaze. The surface then becomes his canvas for meticulous decoration, in this case, these intricate teasel flower. Each detail is hand-painted onto the piece in fluid brushstrokes, rich in imagery inspired by nature. He also shares a studio in Kilkenny with partner Caroline Dolan whose work we also love and is available from our online shop too.
Each dish measures about 25.5cm wide x 6.5cm tall, but sizes may vary due to the handmade nature of the piece.
