The 2024 Kilcoe calendar features a series of watercolour illustrations of Irish Butterflies and the native plants they depend on. Many of our native butterflies rely solely on native flowers and plants to get nectar from and also to lay their eggs and provide food for the larvae (caterpillars). Some butterflies rely on just one type of plant for their survival. This calendar depicts many of these in a seasonal look at our native butterflies and flowers. While you plan your year for 2024 we hope you enjoy learning about some of these important relationships.
This Calendar is printed on strong-quality paper with a matte finish. The calendar page is A4 in size and gives plenty of space for writing day-to-day activities. It hangs from a punched hole at the top and with the added strength of the stiffer cover, it will easily last the year hanging in your home. It is printed locally in Cork with paper sourced from sustainable forestry.
Kilcoe Studios, based in West Cork, was founded by Sonia Caldwell and Eamon Quinn. Eamon specialises in building functional furniture in Irish and European hardwoods, using age-old techniques. Sonia primarily works with stone to create hand-chiseled bowls and vessels but also paints detailed studies of nature. Each year Sonia produces a range of new images to feature on Kilcoe Studio greeting cards and calendar.
