Hand-turned in native Irish Beech, these mills can be used for salt or pepper, they will even grind coffee beans, spices and dried herbs.

The grinders measure 8" tall and are made from one piece of kiln-dried native Irish hardwoods, so the grain of the timber runs from the top into the bottom when lined up. The wood used often shows signs of "Spalting" which is a consequence of the decay process and is very beautiful, but as each piece is unique the grain will differ in each one.

The most important part of any grinder is the mechanism, Crushgrind is a ceramic mechanism made in Denmark. These mechanisms are truly amazing and the manufacturer offers a 25 year guarantee on the ceramic parts. To fill the grinder simply lift the top off, fill and replace. The coarseness of the grind can be altered by a simple twist of a knob on the bottom. These mills are simply a joy to use.

Dimensions:

Each grinder measures about 6cm in diameter, and is 8" tall.

If you like this...

It would make an excellent wedding or housewarming gift or simply a treat for yourself that will last the test of time.

Sustainability:

When a tree falls the most ideal scenario is to let it decay and return to the soil. However people need useful objects, utensils and tableware. Man made materials can often be destructive, extractive and unsustainable. Wood is, when properly managed, a sustainable material.

Matt’s aim is to make beautiful, useful and affordable objects that last a lifetime. Additionally, he has planted hundreds of trees, grows his own organic food and has left large areas of his garden to rewild. All packaging is either re-used or made with recyclable or compostable materials.
