Now an annual project, each year, we commission a different artist or illustrator to design a calendar to a theme of their choice. The format remains the same (each calendar contains 12 perforated prints, one for each month), with each theme and style being totally different every year. For our 2021 calendar, we asked Cork artist Mary Callaghan to design a calendar around the theme of Irish Wildflowers. Mary had been working on a lino print series inspired by her daily walks, observing the coming and going of wildflowers in hedgerows, that we thought would be ideal for a calendar.
Showcasing 12 of the best-loved Irish Wildflowers as they come into season throughout the year, this calendar contains 12 reproductions of Mary's original lino prints which have been hand carved in order to capture the essential energy of each flower. Their distinctive colouring is represented in the little text of each month, penned beautifully by Peter Hourihane who is a lover of both words and his native West Cork. Each perforated print suits our custom frames by Rocker Lane Workshop perfectly (pictured below)
