The Cushen family has been producing the hightest quality Irish textiles since 1778 and their latest offering is a real testiment to that heritage. The Kilkenny throw is made from the fleece of local ‘Galway’ sheep, blended with lambswool so make it wonderfully soft to the touch. Every step of the process is undertaken in the mill in Gragnamanagh in Co. Kilkenny where the raw fleece is carded, spun, dyed, designed, woven and finished.

These fresh colours are inspired by the surrounding landscape contrasting plain undyed wool with flecks of contrasting colour, the fabric has a brushed finish and an incorporated fringe.

Dimensions and Care:

Each throw measures 135cm x 180cm and is a generous size suitable for a bed or sofa. This blanket should only be dry cleaned.

Spot cleaning with cold water and mild detergent suds is possible if carried out by dabbing the fabric i.e. not rubbing the fabric.

Sustainability:

One of only two vertical mills left in Ireland, Cushendale was established in the 18th century. Situated in Graiguenamanagh, a town that is long associated with wool and textiles, the Cushen family have continued the tradition and techniques of their ancestors. As a material, wool is 100% natural, renewable and biodegradable. The fully traceable Irish wool begins with specially selected farmers from Galway to Wexford, their lambswool yarn from an English heritage spinning mill and the Mohair yarn comes from one supplier in Italy. The cornerstone of Cushendale’s ethos is lifelong pieces, created by generations of their family, to be enjoyed for generations by yours.
