Our statement Isabel earrings are a complex design incorporating three separate elements which are soldered together. Attention to detail is required to ensure these elements do not solder to each other, that a sense of movement and tactility is retained. A combination of matte and polished finishes are used in these handcrafted earrings which are available in a choice of either sterling silver or 9kt gold.* Each piece of jewellery in our Terrain collection is named after an Irish maker or sculptor:

Isabel Nolan is a Dublin based artist who works with sculpture, textile, photographs and text. Her subject matter is similarly comprehensive, frequently making reference to the aesthetics of cosmology. The work, often deeply personal, asks the fundamental question of how the world is made meaningful.

Each earrings measures 35mm in length x 10mm at the widest point x 14mm in depth.

*The sterling silver and 9kt gold we use in our jewellery collections comes from a certified refiner of recycled precious metal in Germany. Dealing with their local agent here in Dublin, we order metal to our specifications (be that bullion for casting, bar or sheet) produced from smelted, pre loved jewellery and objects. Any metal ‘waste’ created during the making process is returned to our supplier to be recycled back into the process.

Our Story

Clare Grennan and Laura Caffrey established Irish Design Shop in 2008. A love of Irish craft and good design led these two jewellers to set up a retail space which offered customers both. Irish craft was witnessing a revival at this time, with a new breed of Irish designer/maker producing exciting, design-led products which embraced traditional and new techniques.
