Livie Bangle
Names-Homespun

The Livie bangle is the perfect combination of wearability and statement piece. The two handmade silver forms, one a hollow semi-circle, the other a solid circle, move freely on the bangle which is formed in 2mm round silver wire. As is characteristic of all Names Dublin jewellery, matte and polished finishes are incorporated to add interest and reflect light. Satisfyingly weighty, the Livie is incredibly tactile. Each piece of jewellery within our Homespun collection is named after a woman who was involved in The Country Shop:
Livie Hughes was a close friend of Muriel's and fellow director of The Country Shop until its closure in 1978. It was out of Livie’s groundbreaking ideas that many of Muriel's plans came to fruition. While on a trip together in 1931 to the Aran Islands, Muriel and Livie became the first enterprise to offer the Aran women payment for their knitting, which has become so synonymous with Ireland today. Acting on her belief that tradition is ‘not just resting on the past, but ever starting afresh and moving onwards’ Livie forged a new path for traditional Irish crafts.
-The above information was attained from Geraldine Mitchell's book on the life and work of Muriel Gahan 'Deeds not Words'

Our Story
Clare Grennan and Laura Caffrey established Irish Design Shop in 2008. A love of Irish craft and good design led these two jewellers to set up a retail space which offered customers both. Irish craft was witnessing a revival at this time, with a new breed of Irish designer/maker producing exciting, design-led products which embraced traditional and new techniques.
