The smallest pendant in the ‘Homespun’ collection, Naneen takes the form of a solid silver half circle. This shape is then altered by filing in a split level which offers a different aspect on either side, giving the wearer a choice of two options. As is characteristic of the range, these small features are highlighted by the contrasting matte and polished finishes. Hanging on an 18" anchor chain, a custom made clasp with the stamped Names logo completes the necklace. The Naneen pendant is also available in 18ct gold plated silver. Each piece of jewellery within our Homespun collection is named after a woman who was involved in The Country Shop:
One of the original suppliers to The Country Shop, Naneen Mhicilín (Annie Mullen) was an outgoing sociable woman from Inis Mór, famed for welcoming any tourists who came calling. Naneen not only supplied the shop with beautifully woven crioses* but also organised the knitters on the island to supply The Country Shop with it’s original white Aran sweaters. *A crois was a multicoloured belt, woven without a loom, which men wound around their waists to hold up their trousers.
-The above information was attained from Geraldine Mitchell's book on the life and work of Muriel Gahan 'Deeds not Words'
The pendant measures approx 16mm in width x 8mm in height x 6mm in depth.
