Before we were shopkeepers, we were jewellers. In the last few years, as our business, Irish Design Shop has grown, we have had the opportunity to focus again on our first love, jewellery design, and making. We combined our skills and personalities as makers to create Names Dublin, a brand which appeals to a wide audience with it's paired back, minimal aesthetic. Essential to our brand is accessibility. Each collection is carefully considered, yet affordable, our aim is to create a lasting product. We handmake every piece of jewellery in the workshop above Irish Design Shop on Drury street, using traditional techniques.
About our Lineage collection:
Working in a modular way each piece has been formed by hand in brass to exacting standards, worked to contrasting matte and polished finishes and plated in hard-wearing 18 carat rose or yellow gold. (Some pieces are now available in recycled sterling silver as an option). While incorporating a truly modern aesthetic, the collection retains the warmth and tactility of the handmade.
As this first collection was such personal one, Clare and Laura chose to name the pieces after the women in their families. Starting with themselves and working back through their respective mothers, grandmothers and great-grandmothers. Honouring these ordinary women who are essentially the origin of this collection.
