Exclusive to Irish Design Shop, potter Helen Ennis kindly obliged us by making the perfect dish to fit our Helping Hand soap. Available in all three classic Dunbeacon glazes, each soap dish is hand-thrown in Dunbeacon Pottery's West Cork studio. The circular ridges of the dish allow water and suds to drain keeping the soap dry between uses.

Dimensions and Care:

Each dish measures approx 12cm in diameter and is 2.5cm high. As with the rest of the collection, all Dunbeacon stoneware is dishwasher safe.

A while back we visited Helen's enviable studio on the Sheep's Head peninsula, read more about our trip here.

 Sustainability:

Each soap dish is individually handmade by Helen, while maintaining continuity of form and consistency in their style. This entire process can be viewed at her workshop in West Cork, right from the initial stages of processing the clay, to the displayed finished product.

Helen chose stoneware for its durability and strength, and combines this with recycled clay - strengthening it even more for throwing. Opting for an electric kiln with controlled temperature firing, and carefully planning the space to fit as much as possible in each firing, are small ways that Helen can control the impact her practice has on our environment.

Our Story

Irish craft was witnessing a revival at this time, with a new breed of Irish designer/maker producing exciting, design-led products which embraced traditional and new techniques.
