Traditional handknit Aran mittens made from 100% pure new wool. Sure to keep your hands toasty as a result of the tight knit which is characteristic of handknitting. The chunky Irish moss stitch* is incorporated on the palm and the thumb of these mittens ensuring their durability and providing further warmth for the wearer.
The Irish Moss stitch: This stitch depicts carrageen moss, a type of seaweed found on the Irish coast, which is used as a food and as a fertiliser of barren fields.

Our Story
Clare Grennan and Laura Caffrey established Irish Design Shop in 2008. A love of Irish craft and good design led these two jewellers to set up a retail space which offered customers both. Irish craft was witnessing a revival at this time, with a new breed of Irish designer/maker producing exciting, design-led products which embraced traditional and new techniques.
