Blue tits and other birds in the tit family nest from mid-April to mid-May. They nest in a variety of habitats from woodlands to gardens in any suitable crevice or hollow in trees or walls. The regularly use nest boxes and favour a hole entrance box such as this style. Found in 98% of Irish gardens, this is one of our most loved garden birds.

This nest box for Tits has been built to an approved design and has been finished with an environmentally friendly paint recommended by the RSPB. Made in Dublin by enterprising TY school student Shane Pedlow, each sturdy box is sure to bring colour and joy to your garden. Boxes for Tits should be hung 2-4 metres up a tree or wall. Unless there is overhanging foliage to shade the box, It should face north or east to avoid strong sunlight and the wettest winds.

Boxes can be put up at any time of the year but it is good to allow time for the birds to become accustomed before the nesting season in Spring.

After use, remove the lid by the stainless steel screw which will not rust. Clean box thoroughly and remount it as the Tits may want to roost in the box in Winter.

Dimensions: Each box measures approx 26cm tall x 14cm wide x 18cm deep.
