We are so fond of Sally Caulwell's botanical prints, that we asked her to design a special Christmas card for our festive collection, in her distinctive style. Printed in white ink on recycled brown card, this greeting card features a selection of Winter botanicals including Holly, Larch, Oak, Mistletoe, Blackthorn, Douglas Fir and Scots Pine. A stickler for the details, Sally included the Latin names for the plants too.

Holly, ivy and other greenery such as mistletoe were originally used in pre-Christian times to help celebrate the Winter Solstice Festival and ward off evil spirits and celebrate new growth. These plants continue to be associated with Christmas and are still used to decorate our homes today.

The card measures 15cm x 21cm (A5) and comes with a festive, peel and seal red envelope.

Irish craft was witnessing a revival at this time, with a new breed of Irish designer/maker producing exciting, design-led products which embraced traditional and new techniques.
