This hand-woven travel pouch/clutch bag is lined with Irish linen and includes interior pockets of same. Available in two options with either a salmon or lilac coloured zipper. The leather zip pull also acts as a handle for carrying. Each clutch is presented in a gift box including an information leaflet from the maker about the inspiration for her design. The name Olla Nua meaning new wool in Irish is indicative of the fresh contemporary approach designer and maker Nicola Gates’ brings to creating her handwoven woolen goods. A love of wool and the textures and properties of this traditional sustainable material is central to her designs. This very special hand-woven clutch would make an ideal gift for one who shares that passion.

The pattern for the clutch was inspired by a trip Nicola made to Newgrange, a neolithic monument in the Boyne Valley, Co. Meath. The diamonds and chevrons of the design are based on the geometric stone engravings at the site, the flecked colours and textures of the wool mirror that of the stone, while the the weave of the fabric reflects the relief of the engravings.

Dimensions: 22cm x 15cm

Care: Gently spot clean when possible or handwash in warm water (max 30 degrees C) using a mild detergent. Avoid saturating leather pull. Press in towel to remove excess water and leave to dry flat naturally. Iron on the outside using wool setting
