A super-soft mohair blanket woven by Kilkenny mill, Cushendale. This heritage mill use the highest quality, traditionally hand-dyed mohair yarns to produce this beautiful collection. The weavers incorporate a delicate and signature process that enhances the yarn fibres for a softer finish. Mohair is a fine lustrous fleece that comes from the hair of the Angora goat. Mohair is often referred to as the “diamond fibre,” as the wool is characterised by a distinct lustre and sheen.

Choose between three unique colour options, Poppy, Rowan or Azure. Whether draped over a sofa or a bed, this blanket will bring texture, warmth and colour to any living space. We also stock Cushendale's beautiful mohair scarves available in the same colourways, available here.

Materials and care:

Dimensions: Each blanket measures 180cm in length x 135cm in width. 70% Mohair 30% Wool. Wool should always be hand washed. Wool fibres have many scales/cuticle cells that protect the outer layer of the fibre, machine washing can destroy the textile’s softness. Gentle hand washing will help prevent pilling and maintain your wool textiles in the best condition.

Sustainability:

One of only two vertical mills left in Ireland, Cushendale was established in the 18th century. Situated in Graiguenamanagh , a town that is long associated with wool and textiles, the Cushen family have continued the tradition and techniques of their ancestors. As a material, wool is 100% natural, renewable and biodegradable. The fully traceable Irish wool begins with specially selected farmers from Galway to Wexford, their lambswool yarn from an English heritage spinning mill and the Mohair yarn comes from one supplier in Italy. All production takes place under the one roof, using small batch dyeing and production methods. The cornerstone of Cushendale’s ethos is lifelong pieces, created by generations of their family, to be enjoyed for generations by yours.
