From late April through the summer to August, spectacular fields of luminous yellow Rapeseed are on view throughout Ireland. A crop which is planted for its yield of oil-seed, it often escapes and finds its way onto all sorts of waste ground, roadsides and ditches. The oil itself has become especially popular in salad dressings and mayonnaise, where its distinctive nutty taste adds depth, texture and complexity.
This print is part of a series inspired by memories of Summer Walks at the foothills of the Cooley Mountains on Co. Louth. Martina has captured the vibrant colours of these fields in this delightful image which has been screen-printed by hand in two colours onto textured, handmade paper.
The paper is mounted on sturdy card measuring 32cm x 42cm. It is signed and numbered as one of a limited edition of 100 prints.
