Probably the best-known bird species in Ireland, and also the friendliest. In the breeding season, robins are extremely territorial and will chase off any intruding birds. A constant companion to the gardener, feeding on grubs, worms and insects disturbed by the fork or spade, they can become very tame.
This nest box for Robins has been built to an approved design and has been painted with an environmentally friendly paint recommended by the RSPB. Made in Dublin by enterprising TY school student Shane Pedlow, each sturdy box is sure to bring colour and joy to your garden.
Despite their friendliness, robins become quite secretive when nesting, so the box should be hidden in foliage against a wall or fence about 1-2 metres above ground.
Boxes can be put up at any time of the year but it is good to let the birds become accustomed well before nesting season in Spring. Nesting season for robins is from mid-March to mid-June.
Dimensions: Each box measures approx 26cm tall x 14cm wide x 18cm deep.
