This print is from an ongoing series of collage work in which Alex Synge explores botanical imagery in art history, in its treatment and symbolism.  Images of plants are appropriated and recontextualised; they are cut, skewed and printed in single colours using the risograph printing technique.* On a very basic level, the series plays simply with the formal qualities of the source material, exploring tone, shape, colour and composition.

2-colour risograph print on Munken Lynx Rough 170gsm paper.
Unframed A3 (297mm x 420mm)
Signed & numbered edition of 45.

*Risography is an environmentally friendly method of printing, using soy-based inks to produce unique outcomes. It is very similar to screen printing; the original image is used to burn a master screen through which ink is pushed to leave the impression.
