Small Kilkenny Throw
Cushendale

The Cushen family has been producing the highest quality Irish textiles since 1778 and their latest offering is a real testament to that heritage. The Kilkenny throw is made from the fleece of local ‘Galway’ sheep, blended with lambswool so make it wonderfully soft to the touch. Every step of the process is undertaken in the mill in Gragnamanagh in Co. Kilkenny where the raw fleece is carded, spun, dyed, designed, woven and finished.
These fresh, bright, colours are inspired by the surrounding landscape contrasting plain undyed wool with striped flecks of contrasting colour, the fabric has a brushed finish and an incorporated fringe.
Measuring 135cm x 90cm it is half the size of the large throw and is perfect for throwing over your knee on the sofa. This blanket should only be dry cleaned. Spot cleaning with cold water and mild detergent suds is possible if carried out by dabbing the fabric i.e. not rubbing the fabric.
Our Story
Clare Grennan and Laura Caffrey established Irish Design Shop in 2008. A love of Irish craft and good design led these two jewellers to set up a retail space which offered customers both. Irish craft was witnessing a revival at this time, with a new breed of Irish designer/maker producing exciting, design-led products which embraced traditional and new techniques.
