Stephen Ryan hand makes these tactile twig pencils from sustainably sourced, coppiced hazel or dogwood in his Lagan Valley workshop. The twigs all grow in local hedgerows and woodlands near his studio. The pencil cores are inserted while the wood is still fresh, allowing the wood to tighten around the core as it dries. Made from hardwood these pencils won't split or crack as you pare them. Their chunky size and natural bark finish make them comfortable for hands of all ages to grip and use.

The cores are EN71 European Standard certified. Pencils vary in size due to the nature of the natural materials, they are approx 16cm long, each pencil is between 1-2cm thick.
