Terracotta Sugar Bowl

Terracotta Sugar Bowl

Helen Faulkner

Terracotta Sugar Bowl data-zoom=

The ideal sized sugar bowl, but also perfect for salt, dips or a few snacks or nibbles.

Hand-thrown in terracotta clay in Belfast, Helen has chosen a beautiful, smooth, turquoise glaze that contrasts with the exposed dark clay perfectly. The overall shape is a delight to use, with the lines and curves as evidence that each piece is made by hand.

Dimensions and Care:

Each bowl measures approx. 5.5cm tall and 12cm in diameter and holds 300ml. This piece is safe to use in the oven and dishwasher but not recommended for the microwave as the terracotta clay heats up very quickly.

Sustainability:

Helen Faulkner produces pottery from clay derived from plentiful minerals occurring in the earth, as well as glazes that Helen makes herself, with the intention for her ceramics to last for years to come. In its raw state, the clay can be recycled many times before being fired in her well insulated, therefore very efficient kiln. Ceramics require a lot of care in terms of packaging but Helen, like many of our other ceramicists, uses recyclable or repurposed materials to protect the work in transit. Lastly, Helen’s Belfast studio is within walking distance of her home which allows for a carbon free journey to and from work!
