Maria Connolly

Maria Connolly

Scottish born ceramicist Maria Connolly works from her home studio in a rural town on the north coast of Co. Donegal. Maria graduated from the Limerack School of Art and Design in the late 1980’s going on to exhibit in many shows in the UK and Ireland. Her work explores techniques concerning form, texture and colour, creating functional vessels that are playful and engaging.

Sustainability:

Maria Connolly fires her earthenware at moderately low temperatures, in an electric kiln which avoids the need for a non-renewable fuel source. Sourcing materials in bulk from a local supplier in Northern Ireland reduces the carbon footprint of her practice, and Maria’s use of recycled and biodegradable packing materials aids this also.  Going forward, Maria has plans to build a new studio, which will source some of its energy requirements from solar panels, for lighting and hot water along with the investment of a more energy efficient kiln.
