Now in it's second generation, Nellie's Aran Booties is a family run business in Co. Westmeath. Nellie Moran, a mother of 11 children, began knitting Aran Booties when her first grandchild was born. Many grandchildren followed, all of whom she knitted these little booties for. The durable Aran knit uppers and hand stitched sheepskin soles kept their feet warm and protected. Before long, friends were asking Nellie to knit them pairs. Along with the help of her daughter Úna, they went into business in the 1980's and are now stocked all over the world.
