Angular Chopping Board
We designed this board in collaboration with Warren from Coolree Design as we knew he had the equipment and skills to create the dynamic shape we were looking for. The angles on the edges allow for easy lifting from the kitchen counter and the handy hole means. you can hang it on the wall when not in use. Made from native Irish hardwoods, depending on what is available at the time and what grains look most interesting, it is usually either beech, oak, ash, or chestnut.
The larger size is perfect for slicing bread, chopping vegetables, or serving a cheese board to share - it measures 38cm x 22.5cm
The smaller size is ideal for chopping garlic and herbs or for serving a small snack with a cup of tea or a glass of wine - it measures 22cm x 13.5cm
Established in 2017 by Letterfrack graduate Warren Hayes, Coolree Design specialises in manufacturing furniture and homewares from their Kildare studio. Emphasis is placed on design, craftsmanship, and quality of materials to produce items for the home which are practical and beautiful.
To ensure the timber remains in good condition, wipe clean and do not immerse in water. If the wood starts to look "thirsty" clean and oil with linseed from time to time to refresh and protect the timber.
Coolree Design create with an ethically-minded ethos, rooted in using only sustainably-sourced solid timber. As they are fortunate enough to enjoy an abundance of beautiful greenery around their workshop in Kildare, they value the importance of treating the earth with the utmost respect.
Remnants and off cuttings from their larger pieces of furniture are used to create their more quaint vessels. They aim to eliminate unnecessary waste in the studio, even down to the wood shavings which are repurposed as horse bedding for their neighbours' stables!
