Dóchas
One Strong Arm

Dóchas literally translates from Irish to English as Hope - which is beautifully, subtly printed with a blind emboss at the bottom of the print.
A two-colour gradient printed on high-quality cream paper, this print is A3 - measuring 297mm x 420mm.
The prints in this collection are created in the same manner as all OSA work; with love and by hand, one colour at a time, on their 1964 Korrex Berlin proofing press. They are all printed using 30-line DeLittle Gaelic wooden type, which found its way to the studio a long time ago from a gentleman printer in Mallow, Cork. Printed on 175 Gsm Colorplan, by GF Smith.
Our Story
Clare Grennan and Laura Caffrey established Irish Design Shop in 2008. A love of Irish craft and good design led these two jewellers to set up a retail space which offered customers both. Irish craft was witnessing a revival at this time, with a new breed of Irish designer/maker producing exciting, design-led products which embraced traditional and new techniques.
