Milk Jug
We love the shape of this little jug, with the straight sides, perfectly curved spout and coloured rim. Ideal as a milk jug/ creamer but also big enough to use for a sauce or gravy. The tactile unglazed finish of the exterior makes it lovely to hold and pour.
Hand-thrown in stoneware clay with a coloured slip detail on the rim and the base, the cup has a clear glaze on the inside and is left unglazed for a gorgeous tactile feel on the outside.
Dimensions: 9 x 7.5 cm (3.5 x 2.95")
Pair this with your favourite of Luke's mugs for your afternoon tea.
Luke O’Callaghan is a potter based in Louisburgh Co.Mayo on the Wild Atlantic Way. He graduated from the National College of Art and Design in 2002. Shortly after he began working in a Dublin ceramics studio before becoming a Technician in the Irish Museum of Modern Art and then an Art Handler in the National Gallery of Ireland. 9 Yard Ceramics began when he built his own studio in the back yard of his house in Dublin. In 2022 he moved with his family to Co.Mayo to establish a much larger studio where he now works and teaches workshops.
Luke's collection is made to be used everyday. Each piece is thrown on the wheel, using a stoneware clay, dried overnight before being turned and finished. The rim and underside have a stained slip detail. The outer surface is left unglazed to reveal the beautifully smooth and tactile finish of the fired clay.
We would always recommend hand washing all handmade ceramics, however, with due care these pieces can be washed in the dishwasher and are also microwave safe.
The 9 Yard stamp of the maker features on the foot or base of each piece.
