Kilcoe Calendar 2027
WILDFLOWER MEADOW – The images in the Kilcoe 2027 calendar illustrate just a few of the many different wildflowers you might find growing in a healthy Irish Wildflower Meadow. Each image is painted in watercolour exclusively for this calendar by artist Sonia Caldwell from plants that are growing around West Cork. On each page you will also read what exactly a meadow is, the history of meadows and the cultural connection with the landscape and farming, along with a few tips on creating your own meadow. Meadows provide vital food and shelter for insects, mammals and birds, and their decline has had a huge impact on Ireland’s biodiversity.
The Calendar is printed on strong quality paper with a matte finish. The calendar page is A4 in size and gives plenty of space for writing day-to-day activities. It hangs from a punched hole at the top and with the added strength of the stiffer cover it will easily last the year hanging in your home. It is printed locally in Cork with paper sourced from sustainable forestry.
Kilcoe Studios, based in Skibbereen, West Cork, was founded in 2012 by Sonia Caldwell and Eamon Quinn, as a means to fund other artistic practices. Each card and calendar is the watercolour paintings of Sonia, as she explores the wildlife around her and the abundance of gardens and knowledge in the area.
Sonia primarily works with stone to create hand-chiseled bowls and vessels but over time the depth of our plant world became more and more fascinating to her. Now Kilcoe Studios depicts the extensive range of native Irish plants and trees and not only shares the beautiful watercolour images in the products but also shares wonderful facts and information from our heritage and folklore.
All packaging is recyclable and proudly plastic free. All card and paper that the cards and calendar are printed on are made from FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) certified paper. Everything is printed locally by a family print business based in Cork City - City Print.
