Neon Bobble Hat
A classic, Donegal fleck, fisherman-style hat, exclusive to Irish Design Shop. The hand-dyed neon pom pom in Gorse is hand-wound, steamed, trimmed, steamed again and then fluffed back into shape until they finally look right. Genuinely an absurd amount of labour for something so small, but a sign of the craftsmanship that goes into each and every piece that leaves Pearl's studio.
Details: 100% Merino wool, dyed and spun in Donegal
Designed in Leitrim, knit in Kilcar, County Donegal. Unisex fit, one size. Small-batch production.
Pearl’s work has become known for its intricate patterns, sculpted silhouettes and her signature touches of neon. Each design begins with the wearer, shaped for warmth, ease and the simple pleasure of putting on something thoughtfully made. Inspiration comes from everyday rural life, from working the land to long walks through remote forests, and from the small foraged treasures that make their way onto her studio shelves.
If you wish to wash this piece, handwashing in lukewarm water is advised. Dry flat and never tumble dry.
PEARL REDDINGTON knitwear is made entirely in Ireland through close partnerships with small family run factories in the Donegal. These workshops have generations of skill behind them and are central to keeping traditional knitting knowledge alive. Pearl works side by side with their technicians, developing shapes, testing tension and refining each piece until it feels right.
Pearl’s approach to sustainability is rooted in material honesty and longevity. She works only with natural fibres, primarily Donegal yarn spun locally in Kilcar. These yarns, rich with the colour and texture of the landscape, are durable, biodegradable and made within an hour’s drive of her studio. For intarsia details and neon accents she uses raw Donegal yarn that is cold bath dyed in Scotland in a custom neon shade, keeping the process low impact while maintaining full fibre integrity.
