Wide Porcelain Bowl
A perfectly formed porcelain bowl thrown on the potter's wheel by ceramicist Adam Frew in the North of Ireland. Adam favours simple forms which he uses as a canvas for spontaneous mark-making, a contrast to the finely thrown porcelain. Sharp lines, crayon scribbles, brush marks, and sponged-back sections reflect the energy and passion Adam invests in his craft.
This bowl is a joy to use. Perfectly functional, it is also a piece of art. Our in-store customers always marvel at the craftsmanship of this work. As each bowl is hand-painted, slight variances will occur. We adore the red glaze contrasting with the aqua rim on the base of each bowl.
Dimensions: Each bowl measures 17cm in diameter x 8cm deep. Signed on the base with a simple maker's mark of AF.
Adam Frew is one of Ireland's most well-regarded ceramicists. Adam makes clean, simple forms on the potters' wheel. Frew is based in Coleraine, Northern Ireland, and works exclusively in porcelain, creating thrown functional and large one-off pots. His perfectly formed tableware is decorated in spontaneous mark-making, a contrast to the finely thrown porcelain. Sharp lines, crayon scribbles, brush marks, and sponged back sections reflect the energy and passion Adam invests in his craft.
As each piece is handmade in delicate porcelain, we would recommend hand-washing this item. The dimensions may vary slightly. Each one is sold individually.
Adam undertakes each aspect of production himself, under the one roof! From making his own glazes, constructing the vessels and firing them. He recycles all of his unfired clay, and where possible biodegradable packaging is used to protect the finished porcelain pieces. As Adam works from his home in Northern Ireland, it's a short walk to the studio!
