Spútaí Print
A limited edition 50cm x 50cm print to coincide with the release of our 2024 calendar Féilire Focal. Printed in Dublin with beautiful foil block detailing, this image Spútaí by Antic-Ham is printed on a khaki background highlighting Ham's wonderful use of colour.
Spútaí (SPOOW-tee) Misty with gentle rain, or drizzling. At least, that's it's meaning in Northwest Donegal; elsewhere spútaí can mean a heavy shower of rain. Spútaí fearthainne is a sudden downpour. The main word for drizzling is brádán, or also salaráil, which comes from salachar, meaning dirt or sordidness or a nasty skin disorder. My favourite salachar - words are salachar gaoil, 'distant relation', but really means 'dirty cousin', and salachar Ghaeilge, 'smattering of Irish'.
Each 50 x 50cm print is numbered. Printed in Dublin in an edition of 200.
