The strong outline of the Úna necklace is formed in 2mm thick silver. The semi-circular shape has been altered to create a split level, characteristic of all the large pendants in the ‘Homespun’ collection. A combination of matte and polished finishes are incorporated to highlight the mix of straight lines and clean angles. Hanging centered on a 60cm long anchor chain, with handmade clasp, this statement necklace is also available in 18ct gold plated silver.

Originally from Inis Meáin (home of the most beautiful croises it was said), Úna Dirrane supplied The Country Shop to earn ‘Eight-and-sixpence each, five pounds and two shillings the dozen’ for her croises. In addition to these earnings, in 1946 Muriel introduced an annual bonus for the craftworkers. The day the Christmas bonus arrived to the island was much anticipated, with women walking five miles or more to the post office to collect their cheque.

-The above information was attained from Geraldine Mitchell's book on the life and work of Muriel Gahan 'Deeds not Words'

Dimensions: The Úna pendant measures approx 3.5cm x 2cm, and hangs on a 24in chain.
