Berry Colander
Designed and made exclusively for Irish Design Shop by skilled potter Rosemarie Durr, this berry colander is a kitchen essential to keep handy while baking and cooking. The brief for Rosemarie was to design something that functions beautifully and is small enough to use with ease, every day. The handle/spout combo was prototyped and tested until we were all happy with how the colander felt in the hand and how it functioned. The drainage holes were also considered to minimize pooling at the base and to allow water to drain away freely. It is the perfect size to rinse berries, pulses, or salad leaves. Makes an ideal house warming gift!
Dimensions: Height (base to top): 7.5cm. Width (spout to handle): 16.5cm.
Having trained in world renowned Potter Skills course in Thomastown, Kilkenny in 1996, Rosemarie worked as a production potter in some of Ireland's leading pottery studios for several years.
In 2004 she opened her studio shop with her husband Andrew Ludick in Castlecomer Estate Yard and Discovery Park.
Craftsmanship and design are key to Rosemarie's work. Her Stacking Range is a new departure in her work, having previously delighted in the uniqueness of the hand thrown, her aim with this collection is to streamline her pieces. It’s a collection that relies on technical precision, there is no room for error in creating these interlocking pieces which really showcase her skill as a potter.
Each piece is thrown on the wheel using durable stoneware clay, and glazed with a glossy buttermilk glaze. Dishwasher safe.
