Silare Mohair Scarf
A super-soft, mohair scarf woven by Kilkenny mill, Cushendale. This heritage mill use the highest quality, traditionally hand-dyed mohair yarns to produce this beautiful collection. Mohair is often referred to as the “diamond fibre,” as the wool is characterised by a distinct lustre and sheen, and it remains one of the most prized natural textiles. Choose between a variety of contrasting contemporary colour options.
Dimensions: Each scarf measures 200cm in length X 22,5cm in width.
If you like this, then you are sure to be drawn to the Silare Mohair Throw by Cushendale. Available in similar colour options, the Silare throw is super soft and luxurious.
Cushendale is one of the last fully vertical woollen mills remaining in Ireland today and operates just as it did when first established as an abbey mill in the 13th century, still taking in locally grown Irish wool to colour, card, spin and weave. Each step of the process is completed under the one roof, as it has been done for centuries. Combining creativity and craftsmanship they transform wool fleece into beautiful, soft textiles.
Today Cushendale is run by Philip and Miriam Cushen, fifth and sixth generations of the Cushen family.
Each piece from Cushendale is individually signed by the person who hand-finished it, making it a really special item.
70% Mohair 30% Wool.
Wool should always be hand-washed. Wool fibres have many scales/cuticle cells that protect the outer layer of the fibre, machine washing can destroy the textile’s softness. Gentle hand washing will help prevent pilling and maintain your wool textiles in the best condition.
